Temples, islands and some of the world's best street food — easy to reach from India and simple to get around.

🛂 Visa for Indian passport holders

Visa-free for 30 days (tourism)

Indian passport holders can enter visa-free for up to 30 days for tourism — cut from 60 days on 15 September 2026. Fill in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online within 3 days before you land.

🗓️ When to go

November to February is dry and coolest; March–May is very hot; June–October brings monsoon rain (the Gulf islands like Koh Samui stay drier until October).

🚕 Getting around

Grab and Bolt apps for taxis, the BTS Skytrain and MRT in Bangkok, domestic flights and overnight trains for longer hops.

💡 Local tips

  • Dress with shoulders and knees covered for temples and the Grand Palace.
  • Use the metered taxi or a ride-hailing app — agree on nothing verbally with tuk-tuks.
  • 7-Eleven is on every corner for SIM top-ups, snacks and basics.
  • Tap water isn't drinkable; refill stations are cheap and everywhere.

😅 What we wish we'd known

  • Many ATMs charge a flat ~220 baht fee per withdrawal — take out larger amounts less often.
  • Island ferries sell out around holidays; book a day ahead.

Places worth the detour

  • Krabi & Phi Phi Islands — Limestone cliffs dropping straight into turquoise water, with island-hopping longtail boats leaving from Ao Nang every morning.
