πŸ—“οΈ When to go

Warm and humid all year. February to April is usually driest; November to January is the wettest monsoon.

πŸš• Getting around

The MRT covers almost everywhere; tap in with a contactless bank card or an EZ-Link card. Grab for taxis.

πŸ’‘ Local tips

  • Hawker centres (Maxwell, Lau Pa Sat, Newton) are the best and cheapest way to eat.
  • Chewing gum sales are banned, and littering or eating on the MRT brings real fines.
  • Carry an umbrella β€” sudden afternoon downpours are normal.

πŸ˜… What we wish we'd known

  • Tap water is safe to drink everywhere.
  • Changi Airport's Jewel waterfall is free to visit, even if you're not flying.

Places worth the detour

  • Marina Bay & Gardens by the Bay β€” Futuristic Supertrees, the Cloud Forest dome and a skyline that lights up every evening for the free Spectra show.
