💡 Local tips
- Trekking permits (TIMS, national park fees) are needed for most routes — sort them in Kathmandu or Pokhara.
- Walk clockwise around stupas and prayer wheels.
- Power cuts still happen in rural areas — carry a power bank.
😅 What we wish we'd known
- Kathmandu–Pokhara by road takes 6–8 hours; the 25-minute flight is often worth it.
- Indian ₹500 and larger notes may not be accepted everywhere — carry smaller notes or Nepalese rupees.
Places worth the detour
- Pokhara & the Annapurnas — Lakeside town with the Annapurna range on its doorstep — the gateway to Poon Hill and Annapurna Base Camp treks.
